GRACE: S81-SAN

Grace, a resilient 12-year-old, achieved a promotion to the sixth grade, edging closer to her dream of becoming a doctor. Despite her young age, she shoulders significant responsibilities, beginning her day before dawn to fetch water from the well for various household needs. After school, she dutifully assists her family by preparing dinner. Her favorite dish is Palm Butter Soup, a rich and creamy West African dish made from palm fruit extract, cooked with meats, vegetables, and spices, often served over rice or alongside fufu for a hearty and flavorful meal. Grace’s unwavering determination and willingness to contribute to her family’s well-being shows her character, and is illuminating a path of resilience and ambition amidst daily challenges.

Eleven-year-old Grace was promoted to 4th grade! She has been re-enrolled into school for the 2022/2023 school year.  During our interview, she was a little shy/nervous but opened up towards the end. She really likes her teacher and has made some great friends. She continues to live with her parents and wants to be a doctor one day. Sponsored by: D’Anna Freiberg

Grace is now in the 1st grade! Thanks to the generous donation from Stacy Peters, Grace has been re-enrolled in school for the 2019/2020 school year. Her favorite thing about school is writing, reading, and playing with her friends.

With less than 500 doctors serving a population of 4.5 million people, Liberian households often experience fatalities due to treatable illnesses.  Children aspiring to become doctors is a worthy cause.
