November
2023
Prince’s advancement to the fourth grade marked another achievement in his educational journey, earning recognition from his teacher for his exemplary conduct and positive influence on his classmates. Beyond the confines of the classroom, Prince’s dedication shines as he balances his studies with the responsibility of supporting his family. After school, he takes to the streets, selling plantain chips or cala (donuts) baked by his mother, striving to contribute to their livelihood. Despite the challenges he faces, Prince’s aspiration to become a doctor remains steadfast, driving him forward with determination and resilience as he works towards a brighter future for himself and his loved ones.

He still resides with his mother and wants to be a doctor one day. His favorite subject is science. Sponsored by: Sue Smith Holman

Thanks to the generous donation from Sue Smith Holman, Prince has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. He received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. Prince was kept in his current grade level of 2nd grade for the upcoming school year. He continues to live with his mother and still wants to be a doctor when he grows up.

He did not complete his last year for unknown reasons and will remain in the 2nd grade this year. He was ashamed and embarrassed but we reminded him that failures can be our biggest motivation to do better. He still wants to be a doctor when he grows up. He continues to live with his mother.
