Yor was promoted to the 2nd grade! She has been re-enrolled into school for the 2023/2024 school year. During our interview, she was a little shy at the beginning but by the end she was all smiles. She had a great school year and was one of the classroom cleaner. She would arrive early and stay late to clean up the class. She still wants to be a doctor when she grows up and continues to live with her great-grandmother. Sponsored by: Dennis & Claudia Naidl

Thanks to the generous donation from Dennis & Claudia Naidl, Yor has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Yor was kept in her current grade level of K-2 grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her great-grandmother and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Meet Yor Messiah, who has been generously sponsored by Lea Hall. She is 7 years old and is going to school for the first time this year in ABC. Yor lives in Sopea Town, Liberia with her great-grandmother. Two years ago, Yor’s mother died while in childbirth. Her great-grandmother could not afford to send Yor to school. Her interests are helping her great-grandmother to cook and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
