Marie was promoted to the 2nd grade and has been re-enrolled into school for the 2022/2023 school year. Marie still wants to be a medical doctor when she grows up. With less than 500 doctors serving a population of 4.5 million people, Liberian households often experience fatalities due to treatable illnesses. Children aspiring to become doctors is a worthy cause. She continues to live with her mother. Sponsored by: Barbara Ernst

Thanks to the generous donation from Barbara Ernst, Marie has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedules. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Marie was kept in her current grade level of 1st grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her mother and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Meet Marie, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Fischer Hall and family. She is 7 years old and in the Kindergarten-1 this year. Marie lives in Sopea Town, Liberia with her mom. Her mother is a self-supporting student who has four children with no reliable income and who could not afford to send Marie and her siblings to school. Her interests are playing with dolls and she hopes to be a medical doctor when she grows up.
