Marthaline was smiling ear to ear after her successful promotion to the fourth grade. She worked extra hard this year to ensure she got good grades and passed. Her favorite subjects are reading and writing. She continues to live with her mother and dreams of becoming a minister one day. Sponsored by: Elizabeth Kille

Fifteen-year-old Marthaline was retained in third grade. The circumstances that caused her retainment are not clear.  During our update interview, Marthaline asked for another chance. GPA believes that everyone deserves another chance at success.  Marthaline still lives with her subsistence farming mother and is thankful for another chance to progress in her educational goals. Thanks to the generous donation from Lasisi Ibrahm, Marthaline has been re-enrolled into school for the 2019-2020 school year.  She continues to make the four mile walk to and from school each day and works hard in school.

We are pleased to announce that Marthaline was promoted to the K-2 for the 2018/2019 school year. Marthaline’s village does not have a school. She walks about 4 miles each way to go to school in the nearest town. Natalie Buhl, thank you for your sponsorship and giving your student a gift of education through Girl Power Africa.

Meet Marthaline, who has been generously sponsored by the Natalie Buhl. She is 10 years old and in the kindergarten-1 this year.  She lives in Karnla, Liberia with her mother who is unemployed and could not afford to send Marthaline and her siblings to school on a regular basis.  She hopes to be a minister when she grows up.
