ORETHA: S549-ZOL

September 2021: Thanks to the generous donation from Joyce Jorgensen, Oretha has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She was promoted to the K-1 grade this year and still wants to be a nurse when she grows up. She continues to live with her uncle.

September 2020:  Meet Oretha, who has been generously sponsored by Joyce Jorgensen on behalf of the estate of Dennis Valstad.  She is 5 years old and is going to school for the first time in ABC. She lives in Zolowee, Liberia with her uncle and his wife.   About a year after the death of Oretha’s father, her mother too passed away while sleeping. Her father’s brother and his wife took Oretha and her sister Miemie to raise. Unfortunatly, the uncle is unemployed and could not afford to send Oretha to school.   Her interests are playing with her sister and she hopes to be a nurse (like her sister) when she grows up.
