Thanks to the generous donation from Amanda Freiberg-Marek, Marthaline has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to cancel double/triple promotions that were given to students the year before. Marthaline’s double promotion was taken away and She is now in the K-2 grade for the 2021-2022 school year. She continues to live with her mother and still wants to be a nurse when she grows up.

Meet Marthaline, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Fischer Hall. She is 8 years old and is in the 1st grade this year. She lives in Gbeleyee Town, Liberia with her mother. Her father left her mother when she was pregnant with Marthaline and traveled to an unknown destination. Her interests are saving lives and she hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
