Rita was promoted to kindergarten-2 class and her favorite subject is science. She still lives with her parents and likes playing with old cars. She frequently visits the “garage” in her town. Village based garages are interesting. Constructed with makeshift materials, a variety of transport vehicles are serviced. Rita wants to become an apprentice in the garage when she is older. Thanks to the generous donation from Ainsley Barker, Rita has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Rita was kept in her current grade level of K-1 grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her parents and still wants to be a mechanic when she grows up.

Meet Rita, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Fischer Hall. She is 6 years old and is in the K-1 grade this year. She lives in Gbeleyee, Liberia with both her mother and father. She is 1 of 10 children. Her mother and father help to take children from the streets who need a safe home. Unfortunately, they do not earn enough income to send all of their children to school and have come to Girl Power Africa for assistance. Rita’s interests are fixing cars and motorbikes and she hopes to be a mechanic when she grows up.
