Her favorite part of the day is going to school. During her freetime, she helps with household chores like cooking, cleaning, and hand-washed laundry. Lydia received a promotion into the 2nd grade and has been re-enrolled into school for the 2022/2023 school year. She is a role model both in school and at home. In school, her teacher says she’s always participating and answering/asking good questions. At home, her grandmother says she helps her sisters with their school work and loves to teach them new things she’s learned. She still wants to be a doctor when she grows up and continues to live with her grandmother. Sponsored by: Kathryn Loomans

Meet Lydia, who has been generously sponsored by Ellen Carroll Huntington. She is 7 years old and is going to school for the first time this year in ABC. Lydia lives in Seclepea, Liberia with her grandmother. Both of Lydia’s parents died from the Ebola virus in 2014. She and her two sisters are being cared for by their unemployed grandmother. The grandmother had brought Lydia and her two sisters to Girl Power Africa for assistance to enroll them into school. Lydia hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
