LEKAGAYE: S534-SEH

Lekagaye has recently returned to Girl Power Africa after spending several years living away from the program. When she learned that Girl Power Africa was nearby, she came seeking help and asked to be welcomed back. Her time away had been very difficult, and she longed to return to a place where she felt supported and cared for. She is now in the first grade and has the opportunity to continue her education in a more stable environment. Lekagaye is currently living with a new family closer to where she attends school, which makes it easier for her to stay focused on her studies and daily routines. Despite the hardships she has experienced, Lekagaye still holds onto the dreams she shared when she was younger. She once said she hoped to become a cook when she grows up, and her interest in cooking remains close to her heart. Lekagaye is extremely grateful for the chance to be back in school and part of a supportive community again. This new chapter gives her hope, safety, and the opportunity to keep learning and growing. Meet Lekagaye, who has been generously sponsored by Joyce Jorgensen on behalf of the estate of Dennis Valstad. She is 5 years old and is going to school for the first time. She lives in Sehyi Geh, Liberia with her mother. The father denied the pregnancy and has never been in her life. Her interests are cooking and she hopes to be a cook when she grows up.
