JOSEPHUS: S178-SAN

November

2023

Josephus has advanced to the fifth grade with pride, boasting the highest grade in his class during our interview. He approaches school as a competition, striving to absorb as much knowledge as possible and excel in all aspects, including quizzes, tests, homework, and attendance. His commitment to learning is evident as he rarely misses a day of school.

With each academic achievement, Josephus moves closer to his dream of becoming a teacher one day. He continues to reside with his grandmother, who serves as a constant source of encouragement and support. After school, Josephus returns home to assist his beloved grandmother, reciprocating the love and care she has always shown him. Sponsored by: Jennifer Parker

Meet Josephus, who has been generously sponsored by Erika Klahn. He is 8 years old and in kindergarten-1 this year. Josephus lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with his grandmother. When Josephus was 1 year old, he was given to his aunt to raise him because his young mother could not afford to raise him. Unfortunately, the aunt too had a lot of children of her own and could not afford to send Josephus to school. When his grandmother found out that he was not going to school, she took him from his aunt with the intention of enrolling him in school. However, the grandmother too is now unemployed and couldn’t afford to send him. Josephus’ interests are helping his grandmother and he hopes to be a teacher when he grows up.
