JANET: S77-SUA

Janet barely passed third grade this past school year! She passed to grade four “with condition” to make up her low grade in English and Spelling. Consideration was given because of her age coupled with her determination to achieve in spite of uncontrollable life’s obstacles. Janet still struggles with the tragedy of losing her father and two siblings in a motor car accident when she was just four years old. With no time to grieve, Janet’s mother had to juggle the reality of solely providing for her family through living at the mercy of her struggling neighbors and earning income from gardening and petty trading. Opportunities for giving Liberia’s Janets a second chance is one of the many endearing and life improving attributes of GPA. Sponsored by: Donations from General Funds

Meet Janet, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Kilstrom Higgins. She is 7 years old and in the kindergarten-2 this year. Janet lives in Suakarzue, Liberia with her mother. Three years ago, her father and 2 siblings were killed in a tragic car accident. Since then, her mother has been struggling to support her family and couldn’t afford to send Janet and her siblings to school. Her interests are helping her mom and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
