Thanks to the generous donation from Denise Moest, Helena has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Helena was kept in her current grade level of 1st grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her grandmother and still wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

Thanks to the generous donation from Brenda Vesperman, Helena has been re-enrolled into school for the 2020/2021 school year. She is in the 1st grade this year and still wants to be a teacher when she grows up. She is already demonstrating teacher-like qualities by staying after class and helping students who need extra help. Helena is going to make a great teacher one day. She continues to live with her grandmother.

Meet Helena, who has been generously sponsored by Dan and Brookh Lyons. She is 9 years old and is in the K-2 this year. Helena lives in New Yekepa, Liberia with her grandmother. Helena has been living with her father since her mother moved out 4 years ago. Sadly, her father passed away from a snake bite a year ago. She is now living with her unemployed grandmother who could not afford to send Helena to school. She hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
