November 2023: Fatu, who is 20 years old, paused her schooling last year to assist with work and contribute to her own and her family’s needs. It’s not unusual for young people to work to help their families, but Fatu is committed to completing her education. We’re proud of her determination to return to school, even though finances are tight. Currently in 11th grade, she still resides with her mother’s friend. Her dream of becoming a nurse becomes more promising with each year of academic progress, supported by the assistance of a GPA scholarship.
September 2021: Thanks to the generous donation from Bonnie Helbach, Fatu has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She was promoted to the 10th grade this year and still wants to be a nurse when she grows up. She continues to live with her mother’s friend.

June 2019: We are pleased to announce that Fatu was promoted from 7th to 8th grade this year. Bonnie, thank you for your sponsorship and giving your student a gift of education.
2018: Fatu has been generously re-sponsored by Bonnie Helbach. She is 16 years old and was promoted to the 7th grade this year. In July of 2016, Fatu’s mother passed away and she was living with her grandmother. Unfortunately, her grandmother too passed away about 8 months ago. Fatu is now living in Sanniquellie with her mother’s friend. Her interests are learning and she hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
