Thanks to the generous donation from Mariner & Kaylie Hernandez, Blessing has been re-enrolled into school for the 2020/2021 school year. Blessing was absent for registration due to her going to visit her mother, who’s been sick. We left her materials with the administration to be given upon her return. She is in the 2nd grade this year and she continues to live with her grandfather.

Meet Blessing, who has been generously sponsored by Mariner, Kaylie, and Natasha Hernandez. She is 9 years old and in the K-2 this year. Blessing lives in Suakazue, Liberia with her grandfather. Not long after the death of her father, Blessing’s mother was diagnosed with dementia. (Liberia doesn’t have an institution for people with dementia, therefore, they live on the streets and are referred to as “crazy people”). Blessing’s grandfather is unemployed with no income and couldn’t afford to send her to school. The town chief told Girl Power Africa: “their survival depends on the kindness of their neighbors”. Her interest is playing with her doll and she hopes to be a representative when she grows up.
