Beatrice is now 19 years old and has been promoted to the 9th grade this year. We are incredibly proud of the progress she continues to make. Since joining Girl Power Africa, Beatrice has learned to speak English fluently—something that once seemed impossible to her. Her confidence has grown tremendously, and she continues to shine academically. This year, just like before, she came to the Girl Power team smiling and proudly showed her stomach to prove she is keeping her promise—not to get pregnant until after she graduates from high school. With a mixture of humor and sincerity, she said she was worried she was “getting old.” We reassured her that she is not getting old at all, and as long as she stays focused on her dream of completing high school and keeps her promise, we will continue to support her education. The relief on her face was priceless. Beatrice remains hardworking and determined. She continues to help her classmates when needed and still finds ways to earn a small income by cooking and selling at the market. She lives with her mother’s friend and remains steadfast in her dream of becoming a teacher one day. Her growth—in language, maturity, discipline, and confidence—has been beautiful to witness. Beatrice was promoted to the 8th grade this year! Her favorite subject is English, and she takes great pride in her studies. Beatrice is keeping her promise to our Founder, Bulleh, of not getting pregnant until after she graduates from high school. With a playful sense of humor, she proudly shows off her stomach to the GPA team to prove she’s staying true to her word—bringing laughter and joy to all! At 17 years old, Beatrice is dedicated to her education and enjoys helping her classmates succeed. In her free time, she earns money by cooking and selling at the market, demonstrating her independence and resourcefulness. Fifteen-year-old Beatrice had a remarkable academic year.  She was quadruple promoted from second grade to sixth grade!  She is also captain of her school kickball team.  Her favorite subject is math and she still wants to be a teacher one day and continues to live with her mother’s friend. Meet Beatrice, who has been generously sponsored by Mandy Verda and family. She is 11 years old and is going to school for the very first time this year, in ABC. She lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with her mother’s friend. Beatrice’s mom is an unemployed single mother with 9 children. Beatrice’s mom had given Beatrice to her sister to raise. Unfortunately, that sister couldn’t afford to support Beatrice as she too has many children of her own. So, she had given Beatrice to one of her mother’s friends to raise. However, that friend doesn’t have the income to send Beatrice to school. Her interests are helping her family and she hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
