Thanks to the generous donation from Joanie Hogan, Princess has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. Princess was kept in her current grade level of K1 grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her mother and still wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

Meet Princess, who has been generously sponsored by The Norkeh Family. She is 8 years old and in K-1 this year. Princess lives in New Yekepa, Liberia with her mother. Since the death of Princess’ father two years ago, her mother, who is unemployed has been unable to support her family of four. Princess was brought to Girl Power Africa for assistance by the principal at the local school. He told us: “Princess is one of our smartest students, but her mom didn’t send her to school last year because she’s suffering to take care of she and the children since her husband’s death”. Princess was in very bad condition when we met her. Girl Power is honored to send her to school to give her a better opportunity at life. Princess hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
