Siara is ten years old and live with her mother and four siblings.  She’s in first grade and happy for the opportunity to go to school.  Siara wants to be a seamstress one day.  Her father abandoned the family a few years ago and has not looked back. This is a common problem in Liberia where women like Siara’s mom aren’t legally married but cohabitating under culturally acceptable norms.  GPA sponsor network has become providential “fathers” and “mothers” for many children who fall in Siara’s circumstances.
