November

2024

Marthaline was promoted to the fifth grade this year. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend the school distribution because she was out of town at the time. However, her materials were left with the school principal, who shared that Marthaline is an excellent student. She is very serious about her lessons and consistently demonstrates dedication to her studies. Her teachers are impressed with her commitment and academic progress. Marthaline continues to excel and is on a strong path for success in her studies. Sponsored by: Jennifer Parker

Ten-year-old Marthaline is in third grade and lives with her subsistence farming parents in Soapea, Liberia.  She has five siblings.  Unable to afford the cost of tuition and fees, only two siblings are in school PLUS Marthaline, thanks to the gift of a GPA scholarship.  Marthaline wants to be a nurse when she grows up. Liberia needs nurses!  In a country where there are less than 600 doctors responsible for a population of 4.5 million people, nurses are often the frontline healthcare practitioners in the clinic setting. Nurses do minor surgeries, suturing, delivering babies, and more. Nurturing Marthaline’s goal of becoming a nurse is likened unto investing in the future health and welfare of Liberia’s citizenry.
