MAMIE: E449-SAN

JUNE 2022:  As is the custom in Liberia, 70-year-old Mamie should be living out
her old age with support of her immediate and extended family.  With no national
welfare system in place, children and extended family usually provide for the
elderly.  Mamie’s situation is different.  We are not sure of the circumstances, but,
somehow Mamie, living in Sanniquellie, is struggling to provide for five of her
grandchildren with limited assistance from their parents. She makes a living by
farming and selling her produce.  Mamie often employs the assistance of others to
help make and tend to her farm. She reached out to Girl Power for a Farming
Supplies Kit. Girl Power was happy to help Mamie by providing a Farming
Supplies Empowerment Package.  A donation from the Girl Power Africa General
Funds has given Mamie a hand up.
