Anna had 11 children but 8 died during the Liberian Civil War. Anna told me that she and her remaining 3 children plus 1 grand child live by “God’s grace and good hearted neighbors.” She told Girl Power that most of her life, she has been selling coal and “small, small things” in the local market until she met the most wonderful man when her kids were younger. After they met, he told Anna to stay home and take care of the children and the home; he would provide for their needs. She and the kids have not had to worry about food or school fees for several years… until a year ago when he walked out of their lives for a younger lady in their neighborhood. Now, she has to start over… learning to become independent again. Anna really wants to go back to selling but as she told me, ” it is hard to start over when you have nothing to start with.” These are photos of Anna receiving her new supply of selling goods to now be able to successfully start her very own business.
