William is repeating the fourth grade this year after being unable to complete the previous school year. Following the separation of his father and stepmother, he had to move to a different town, which disrupted his schooling. Because of this transition, he was not able to finish the academic year or be promoted. Although this has been a difficult time, William continues to show perseverance. He is adjusting to the changes in his life and remains committed to his education. Despite the challenges he has faced, he has not given up and is determined to do better this year. William still holds onto his dream of becoming a nurse one day. With continued support and stability, he has the opportunity to rebuild his academic progress and move forward with hope. Meet William, who has been generously sponsored by Samantha Fink. He is 7 years old and in the 1st grade this year. He lives in Gehwee Town, Liberia with his father.  William’s father has 7 children. He told our team: “When a father has to choose between feeding his children or sending them to school, feeding them becomes a priority.”  William’s interests are learning so he can come home and teach his siblings. His big goal is to help his father to send the rest of his siblings to school one day. William hopes to be a nurse when he grows up.
