Susana is eight years old and in pre-kindergarten class. Unfortunately, she was unable to complete school last year due to being sick for six weeks, which caused her to fall behind on her lessons. It has been difficult for her to catch up because of the lack of support at home to help her with her studies. Susana lives with her older sister in Sanniquellie. Her sister’s household comprises eight family members, all of whom depend on the income she makes from selling vegetables and cooked food in the market. Their mother helps out when she can. Despite these challenges, Susana dreams of becoming a nurse one day. The gift of a scholarship is deeply appreciated by Susana’s struggling family, as it offers her the opportunity to continue her education and work toward her aspirations.
