SERENA: S294-GBO

November

2023

Serena has been promoted to the fifth grade! She gleefully displayed her report card with passing grades, a testament to her dedication and hard work both at school and at home. At home, she is responsible for preparing dinner each night, Serena’s favorite Liberian dish is palm butter. This is a traditional delicacy, a savory stew made from palm fruit extract, typically served with rice or cassava. She continues to live with her grandmother, still dreams of becoming a tailor one day.

Serena was promoted to the 4th grade! She has been re-enrolled into school for the 2022/2023 school year. Her teacher reports she’s a great student who’s always offering to answer questions and assist her classmates. She still wants to be a tailor when she grows up and continues to live with her grandmother.  Sponsored by:  Lindsey O’Brien

Meet Serena, who has been generously sponsored by Eeyore. She is 9 years old and in kindergarten-2 this year. She lives in Gbobaye, Liberia with her grandmother. In 2015, Serena’s father dropped her off at her grandmother’s house and said that he was going to Sierra Leone to search of employment opportunities. But, since he left, he has not been heard from. The grandmother is unemployed and could not afford to send Serena to school. She hopes to be a tailor when she grows up.
