2022
Helena was sick most of the school year and was unable to be promoted to third grade. Though she remains in second grade at 14 years of age, she is determined to pass this school year. Helena still wants to be a doctor when she grows up and is still living with her mother. GPA is happy to walk alongside Helena in her quest to be the first to graduate from high school in her family. Thanks to the generous donation from Kristen O’Donnell, Helena has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. Helena was kept in her current grade level of 2nd grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her mother and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

She is in the 2nd grade this year and she likes math and to play kick ball at recess. She still wants to be a doctor when she grows up and she continues to live with her mother.

Meet Helena, who has been generously sponsored by Eeyore. She is 9 years old and in the kindergarten-2 this year. She lives in Gbobayee, Liberia with her mother. Helena’s father left the family and moved in with his new girlfriend about 2 years ago. Her mother is unemployed and is having a difficult time supporting she and her 3 children. She hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
