Sam faced a very challenging year, having lost his beloved grandmother, with whom he had lived. Her passing was a huge emotional setback for him, and it was a tough time to cope with such loss. Despite the hardships, Sam has shown incredible resilience. He has managed to overcome this difficult period and is now thriving in his studies and social life. This year, Sam was promoted to the second grade, and he is doing well. He loves math, and it is clear that he has a natural talent for it. His enthusiasm for the subject has helped him stay focused, and his teachers have praised his progress. Besides his studies, Sam loves to play with his friends, and his social connections have also been a source of strength during this time. Although the year started with great difficulty, Sam has shown that with determination and support, he can overcome the challenges life throws his way. His ability to make a positive turn in his life is truly inspiring, and we are so proud of how he has handled this tough situation. Sponsored by: Peggy & John Sundquist

Sam was held back in the 1st grade this year because he missed too many days of school due to illness. His health is starting to improve and he was all smiles during distribution. He was happy to have another chance at school and to be surrounded by his classmates again. He has been re-enrolled into school for the 2023/2024 school year. Sam’s favorite subject is math. He still wants to be a police officer when he grows up and continues to live with his grandmother. Sponsored by: Phil Vasby

Thanks to the generous donation from Phil Vasby, Sam has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. He received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Sam was kept in his current grade level of K-2 grade for the upcoming school year. He continues to live with his grandmother and still wants to be a police officer when he grows up.
