Ruth is 11 years old and is currently in fourth grade after passing third grade. She shared that Girl Power Africa’s support continues to keep her in school, and she is working hard to improve even more this year. Ruth has been promoted to the third grade, where she serves as class president and consistently demonstrates enthusiasm in all of her subjects—math is her favorite, though she earns her highest marks in reading. Known for being the first to raise her hand, Ruth’s active participation sets a positive example for her classmates. Meet eight-year-old Ruth, she is in the first grade and wants to be a doctor one day.  She lives in Dewoblee, Liberia with her mother, her siblings, and other extended family members.  She enjoys singing and helps out with the household chores like drawing water. Access to water is limited in villages like Dewoblee.  One has to walk to a nearby creek or flowing stream to fetch water in a bucket and head tote it back to their house.  Ruth is thankful for the gift of a scholarship.
