2023

Ruth has been promoted to the eighth grade, a testament to her academic dedication and diligence. Described by her teacher as a great student, Ruth’s enthusiasm for learning is evident in her penchant for asking insightful questions and assisting her classmates in understanding lessons. Her willingness to stay after school to provide tutoring further showcases her commitment to academic excellence.

Despite her achievements, Ruth remains steadfast in her dream of becoming a teacher one day, aspiring to inspire future generations with her passion for learning. She still lives with her aunt. Ruth is supported by her family and Girl Power Africa’s sponsor network as she continues to pursue her goals and make a positive impact in her community.

Meet Ruth, who has been generously sponsored by Sherry Reigel Melde.  She is 11 years old and, in the 3rd grade this year. She lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with her aunt. Both of Ruth’s parents are unemployed and are struggling to support their large family. She was given to her aunt hoping that the aunt could send her to school. Unfortunately, the aunt too has 4 children of her own and cannot afford to send Ruth to school on a regular basis. Ruth hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
