Rebecca was promoted to the Kindergarten 2 class this year, and she continues to show a strong love for learning, particularly in math, which is her favorite subject. When she’s not busy with her lessons, Rebecca enjoys playing kickball at school, a fun break that she looks forward to whenever she gets the chance. However, Rebecca’s responsibilities at home often call her away from play. After school, she helps her family by drawing water from the well, ensuring there’s enough for cooking and cleaning. Despite the demands on her time, Rebecca approaches both her studies and family duties with a positive attitude. She is a hardworking and caring young girl, and we are proud of her dedication and commitment to both school and family. Sponsored by: Rachel Clousing

We are pleased to announce that Rebecca has returned to Girl Power Africa after a year of being gone. She was given to another family member, in a different town to live and had not been going to school as the new family could not afford to send her to school. Thankfully, we were able to reunite with her this year. She is still in the K-1 grade and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Sponsored by: Lori Fischer Hall

Thanks to the generous donation from Lana Howard Meyers, Rebecca has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Rebecca was kept in her current grade level of K-1 grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her mother and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Meet Rebecca, who has been generously sponsored by Janice O’Brien. She is 7 years old and is going to school for the first time this year in the ABC grade. Rebecca lives in Seclepea, Liberia with her widowed mother. Rebecca’s father was a security officer and the mother stayed at home with their five children. Since the death of Rebecca’s father, the mother has been having a difficult time supporting her and her children. Rebecca’s interests are helping her mom to cook and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
