Meet Patience, who has been generously sponsored by Alice Thorson. She is 8 years old and is going to school for the first time this year, in ABC. She lives in Barpa, Liberia with her grandparents. Patience never met her father as he disowned the pregnancy when her mom was pregnant with her. Her mother makes a garden for living; however, the garden does not produce enough to produce to support her and her 2 children. Patience was given to her grandparents to live. Both of Patience’s grandparents are old and unemployed. As much as they love Patience and would do practically anything for her, they could not afford to send her to school. She hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
