Oretha: S728-SOP

Seven-year-old Oretha lives with her uncle and seven family members.  Oretha’s parents could not afford to send her to school and asked her uncle to take her in.  Her uncle, already responsible for six children, approached GPA for a scholarship for Oretha.  It is an honor to walk alongside little Oretha and watch her as she grows and develops into the young woman she is destined to be, starting with Kindergarten-2.  Her parents help out with sending crops from their subsistence farming to Oretha’s uncle.  The uncle provides a nurturing shelter and household.  GPA provided a scholarship.  Surely, with this circle of love and support, Oretha will be the teacher she dreams of becoming.
