Thanks to the generous donation from Jean Glennon, Oretha has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She was promoted to the Kindergarten-2 grade this year and still wants to be a nurse when she grows up. Nurses and health care workers in general are sorely needed in Liberia where access to medical care is challenged by a limited number of health facilities and workers. GPA is honored to walk alongside Oretha and encourage her dream of becoming a nurse.

Meet Oretha, who has been generously sponsored by Amanda Kammen. She is 8 years old and is going to school for the first time this year in ABC. Oretha lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with her unemployed grandmother. Both of Oretha’s parents abandoned her when she was one year old. Her grandmother cannot afford to send Oretha to school. Her interests are being with her grandmother and she hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
