ODELL: S495-KAR

Thanks to the generous donation from Debra Rice, Odell has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. Odell was kept in her current grade level of 3^rd grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her aunt and still wants to be a nurse when she grows up.

Meet Odell, who has been generously sponsored by an anonymous donor. She is 10 years old and is in the 3rd grade this year. She lives in Karnla, Liberia with her aunt. Odell’s mom has 8 children whom she’s having a difficult time supporting. The mom had given Odell to her aunt in order to give her a chance of going to school. Unfortunately, the aunt is a single mom with 4 children of her own whom she’s struggling to send to school. The aunt had brough Odell to Girl Power for assistance to help her continue to her education.  Her interests are playing with friends and she hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
