Thanks to the generous donation from Katy & Dave Batterman, Martin has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. He was promoted to the 1st grade this year and still wants to be a carpenter when he grows up. His favorite thing about school is learning numbers, this way he can start to count money. Martin says he wants to start a small business selling candy so he can help his grandmother pay for food.

Meet Martin, who has been generously sponsored by Katy & Dave Batterman. He is 6 years old and is going to school for the first time this year, in ABC. Martin lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with his grandmother who is unemployed and could not afford to send him to school. During our interview, Martin said, “My ma and pa just leave me. They haven’t come back for me or even call me in a long, long time.” Such a heavy burden to carry for such a young boy. He desperately wanted to go to school and hopes to be a Carpenter when he grows up.
