September 2021: Thanks to the generous donation from Patricia Shabaz, Marie has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year.  Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. Marie was kept in her current grade level of 3rd grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her uncle and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

September 2020: Thanks to the generous donation from Patricia Shabaz, Marie has been re-enrolled into school for the 2020/2021 school year. She has received a double promotion and is in the 3rd grade this year. She still wants to be a doctor when she grows up and she continues to live with her uncle.

October 2019: Thanks to the generous donation from Patricia Shabaz, Marie has been re-enrolled into school for the 2019-2020 school year. 

June 2019: We are pleased to announce that Marie was promoted to the 1st grade for the 2018-2019 school year. Lori, thank you for your sponsorship and giving your student a gift of education. 

2018:  Marie has been generously re-sponsored by Lori Fischer Hall and family.  She is 13 years old and was promoted to the kindergarten2 this year. She lives in Boapea, Liberia with her uncle. Marie told Girl Power, "Please help me for my school. My family is too poor to send us to school."  

2017:  Meet Marie, who has been generously sponsored by Lori Fischer Hall and family.  She is 12 years old and in the kindergarten1 this year. She lives in Boapea, Liberia with her uncle. Marie told Girl Power, "Please help me for my school. My family is too poor to send us to school."  Her interests are learning and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
