September 2021: Thanks to the generous donation from Laura Groenier, Mama has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She was promoted to the 3rd grade this year and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up. She continues to live with her parents.
September 2020: Thanks to the generous donation from Laura Groenier, Mama has been re-enrolled into school for the 2020/2021 school year. Her father is very very sick and she is quiet and withdrawn. She is in the 2nd grade this year and still wants to be a doctor when she grows up. She continues to live with her parents.
October 2019: Meet Mama, who has been generously sponsored by Laura Groenier. She is 9 years old and is in the 1st grade this year. Mama lives in Sopea, Liberia with her parents. Mama’s father has been seriously sick and the doctors have given up on him. However, the herbalist is treating him in another town. So, the mom spends most of her time going back and forth. The children are fending for themselves until their father gets well. She hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
