Lawrenna is back! She shared that she’s so thankful for Girl Power Africa continued to support her by helping with school fees and her uniform, and she feels happy to be back in school this year. Lawrenna is working hard and hopes to be promoted to the next class again, and she stays motivated by her parents. At home, she helps with cooking for about three hours a day, and she dreams of becoming a doctor so she can save lives and support her community. Sponsored by: Serena Bales

Lawrenna has been promoted to the second grade and continues to live with her parents. She still dreams of becoming a police officer one day. Lawrenna shared her after-school routine: “First, we walk to the riverside to get water. Then we go home, make a fire, and cook. After cooking, we eat, go back to the river for more water to wash the dishes, and then clean up and take a bath. After that, we do our homework, play a little, then pray, and go to sleep.” Sponsored by: Serena Bales

Meet nine-year-old Lawrenna, she lives in Dewoblee, Liberia with her parents and three siblings. Lawrenna wants to be a police officer one day. Her subsistence farming parents could not afford to send all their children to school. As is the case with many rural families, income from subsistence farming is often not adequate to provide much beyond the basics for living: food and shelter. Adequate clothing and an education is a luxury and sometimes unattainable. Lawrenna and her parents are very thankful for the gift of a scholarship. Sponsored by: Serena Bales
