Thanks to the generous donation from Lisa Straubhaar, Igata has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Igata was kept in her current grade level of ABC grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her aunt and still wants to be a nurse when she grows up.

Meet Igata, who has been generously sponsored by Lisa Straubhaar. She is 5 years old and is going to school for the first time in ABC. She lives in Gbayden, Liberia with her aunt. Igata’s parents dropped Igata and her sister at their aunt’s house one morning. Igata’s mom told her sister that they were going to search for employment, and they would be back in about 2-3 weeks. It’s been 2 years since they left, and they have not been heard from. Igata’s interests are playing with her sister, and she hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
