Helen has been promoted to the third grade! At 16 years old, she loves school and takes great pride in wearing her school uniform, proudly identifying herself as a Girl Power Africa student. Helen is dedicated and works very hard in her studies. Outside of school, she helps her aunt provide for the family, demonstrating her sense of responsibility. She continues to live with her aunt and continues to dream of becoming a nurse one day, driven by her passion for helping others and her dedication to her education. Sponsored by: Kathryn Loomans

Helen was promoted to second grade! Her favorite subject is math, and she still wants to be a nurse one day. Nurses and health care workers in general are sorely needed in Liberia where access to medical care is challenged by a limited number of health facilities and workers. GPA is honored to walk alongside Helen and encourage her dream of becoming a nurse.

Thanks to the generous donation from Kathryn Loomans, Helen has been re-enrolled into school for the 2020/2021 school year. She is in kindergarten-2 this year and still wants to be a nurse when she grows up. She continues to live with her aunt. (Please Note: Helen was out of town on the day of the 2020/2021 school distribution. Her materials were left with the school authorities).

Meet Helen, who has been generously sponsored by Kathryn Loomans. She is 12 years old and is in Kindergarten-1 this year. Helen lives in Sanniquellie, Liberia with her aunt. Helen’s father was never part of her life. After the death of her mother, Helen’s aunt took Helen to live with her. The aunt too has her children and could not afford to send Helen to school. She hopes to be a nurse when she grows up.
