Freddy was promoted to the fourth grade this year, and he has been doing exceptionally well. He said his favorite subject is English, and he is especially passionate about writing. His enthusiasm for English has been evident in his schoolwork and his classroom participation. Freddy was also elected as the secretary of his class, a role he takes seriously. As a leader in the classroom, Freddy helps keep things in order by monitoring the noise level. If there are students causing too much noise, he takes the initiative to find them and, with a sense of fairness, gives them a small fine (like $0.05 or $0.10) for the disruption. His teachers truly appreciate his leadership and responsibility, and they say he is a hardworking and reliable student. Outside of school, Freddy continues to work hard at home. After school, he heads to the creek, where he fetches about 15 gallons of water per day for his family to use for cooking, washing dishes, and bathing. We are incredibly proud of Freddy for balancing his responsibilities at school and home. His leadership skills, dedication, and commitment are a testament to his character, and we look forward to seeing all the great things he will achieve in the future. Sponsored by: Tera Reese-Beisbier

Ten-year-old Freddy is in second grade and want to be a driver one day. His father was working in a gold mining camp and died of an undiagnosed illness. He went to the camp to “hustle” to earn quick money so his children can go to school. His mother is taking care of Freddy and his five siblings. Freddy enjoys playing football and is looking forward to going to school. He is thankful for the gift of a scholarship. Sponsored by: Tera Reese-Beisbier
