FLORENCE: S557-ZOL

September 2021: Thanks to the generous donation from Kevin Gasner, Florence has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year.  Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. Florence was kept in her current grade level of K2 grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her mother’s cousin and still wants to be a mechanic when she grows up.

September 2020: Meet Florence, who has been generously sponsored by Kevin Gasner.  She is 9 years old and is in the K2 grade this year. She lives in Zolowee, Liberia with her mother’s cousin. Florence’s mother died from what appears to be a bee bite. After the death of Florence’s mom, her mom’s cousin took her to raise her. The cousin too is struggling to support his family and could not afford to send Florence to school.  Her interests are playing with friends and she hopes to be a mechanic when she grows up.
