EMMANUEL: S150-LIA
October 2022
2022
12-year-old Emmanuel had a good school year. When he was just seven years old, he told GPA, “I want to go to school so I can help other family members”. Emmanuel “owns” the culturally expected responsibility of becoming a benefactor for his family! What can easily be perceived as a stressful burden is Emmanuel’s hope and determination. This little one’s insight and maturity exceed his chronological age. What a privilege to walk alongside Emmanuel in his educational journey. Sponsored by: Scott Lacourse

Thanks to the generous donation from Britt & Tim Freiberg, Emmanuel has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. Emmanuel was promoted to the 2nd grade this year and still wants to be a teacher when he grows up. He stays after class to sweep the class and is a big help to his teachers. He continues to live with his mother.

He did not complete his last year and is in the 1st grade again this year. Most of it was due to covid and out of his control. He still wants to be a teacher when he grows up.
