Catherine is 13 years old and currently in 4th grade. Although she did not pass to the next grade, she continues to show strong effort and is doing well in her studies, especially in Math. Girl Power Africa’s support with school materials has helped her remain focused and motivated. Catherine is happy to be in school and hopes to become a class leader. Catherine lives with her single mother and six siblings in Gehwee.  Catherine wants to be a medical doctor.  At ten years old and just in second grade, Catherine hopes to get a double promotion to push her closer to her age-appropriate grade level.  She is very determined.  Her mother does subsistence farming, barely able to provide a daily meal for her family.  The family is thankful for the support which places them one step closer to escape the generational cycle of poverty. Sponsored by: Renee & Tony Frey
