Beatrice remains committed to her education and values the opportunity to stay in school with support from Girl Power Africa. This year, she was asked to repeat her grade to better strengthen her academic skills, a step that will help ensure long-term success. Despite challenges at home, Beatrice stays motivated and continues to work hard toward progressing to the next level.

Note to Sponsor:

This year in Liberia, many public schools conducted a reassessment of students. Based on the results, some children—including your sponsored student—were placed in a lower grade or asked to repeat a grade to better match their current learning level. This adjustment is not due to any wrongdoing or lack of effort—it is simply to ensure they are in the grade where they can learn, grow, and succeed with confidence. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Beatrice was promoted to the second grade this year, and she continues to show great determination. She shared that her favorite class is drawing, where she can express her creativity and passion. Although Beatrice does not have anyone at home to help her with her assignments, she is giving her best effort in the classroom. Her teachers have mentioned that she does require extra help, but they are proud of her progress. Despite the challenges, Beatrice passed and was promoted to the next grade level, and we are so proud of her accomplishments. Her teachers describe her as a hardworking student who applies herself to her studies. She always arrives on time for school, showing her dedication and commitment. After school, Beatrice heads home where she helps her mom with the cooking, taking on responsibilities at home. We are inspired by Beatrice’s hard work and perseverance, and we know that her determination will lead to even more success in the future. Sponsored by: Ann De Broux

Eight-year-old Beatrice is in Kindergarten2 class and lives in Flowin, Liberia with her mother and four siblings.  Her mother could only afford to send two of her children to school and she opted to send the older ones.  She could not afford to send Beatrice to school as the only income she has is from subsistence farming, earning less than $2.00 daily.  Beatrice wants to be a teacher one day and she is thankful for the gift of a scholarship.
