Alvin is 15 years old and, unfortunately, was not able to pass to the next grade this year, remaining in the second grade. He faces many challenges at home, living with a family that provides very little support and leaves him with limited time to study. Despite these difficulties, Alvin continues to attend school regularly and tries his best to keep up with his lessons. The school administrator has been made aware of his situation and is providing him with extra attention and support in class to help him improve and continue learning. Alvin’s perseverance and dedication, even in a difficult environment, show his commitment to his education. When asked what he is most grateful for, Alvin sweetly said he is most thankful for his sponsor, whose support gives him hope and the opportunity to continue going to school. With continued encouragement and guidance, Alvin is determined to work harder and improve his performance in the coming year.

Alvin was promoted to the second grade this year. For two years, he was sent to live with another family member because his mother could not afford to provide food and send both him and his siblings to school. However, Alvin eventually returned to his mother due to the poor treatment he experienced from the family he was staying with. Despite the challenges, Alvin was able to attend school while living with the other family, which allowed him to progress to the second grade. Now back with his mother, Alvin is thriving and doing well in school. Sponsored by: Stacy Peters

Thanks to the generous donation from Phil Vasby, Alvin has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. He received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. Alvin was kept in his current grade level of K1 grade for the upcoming school year. He continues to live with his mother and still wants to be a physician assistant when he grows up.

Meet Alvin, who has been generously sponsored by an Anonymous Donor (Mohamad). He is 9 years old and is in the K-1 grade this year. He lives in Kialay, Liberia with his mother. His father died from problems with his liver in 2013 and his mother has no education or resources to properly care for her family. His interests are to help save lives and he hopes to be a physician assistant when he grows up.
