Helena is a quiet and friendly little girl and this scholarship has been a great blessing to her, along with her mother and aunt. Helena studied hard over the year and was successful and obtained promotion to the 1st grade class. Helena had a good classroom performance and she worked very hard to improve her studies. Thanks to the generous donation from Phil Vasby, Helena has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. Helena was kept in her current grade level of K2 grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her aunt and still doesn’t know what she hopes to be when she grows up.

Meet Helena, who has been generously sponsored by an Anonymous donor (Mohamad). She is 11 years old and in the K-2 grade this year. She lives in Kialay, Liberia with her aunt. Her mother is medically ill and her father abandoned his family because of the mother’s condition. Her interests are just being a kid and she doesn’t know what she hopes to be when she grows up.
