ALPHANSO: S999-BOA

Alphanso has been promoted from Kindergarten 1 to Kindergarten 2 this year and continues to impress his teachers with his dedication and seriousness in class. His favorite subject is math, and he is proud to have been selected as one of the boys to be part of Girl Power Africa, which he finds very exciting. Alphanso enjoys helping classmates who are falling behind in their lessons and approaches learning with focus and responsibility. At home, he spends about four hours each day helping with chores, including drawing water from the creek, washing dishes, and sweeping inside and outside the house. Alphanso says his teacher motivates him to go to school, and he is grateful for the support that allows him to continue learning. His hard work, helpfulness, and determination make him a standout student.

Ten-year-old Alphanso is in Kindergarten One this year, excited to begin his educational journey despite starting school later than most children his age. Alphanso lives with his mother, who has been his sole caregiver since his father left the family four years ago. His father had traveled to the capital city in search of work but has never been heard from since, leaving Afonso’s mother to shoulder the responsibility of raising him on her own. Despite the challenges he has faced, Alphanso is full of hope and dreams for the future. He aspires to become a construction worker when he grows up, with a goal of building houses to help families like his own.
