Rufus: S842-KPA

Rufus has been promoted to third grade! Rufus was elected by his classmates as their class vice president and he is proud of his title. He likes to help inspire his classmates to work hard and is very helpful in class. Rufus continues to live with his mother and still wants to be a scientist one day. Sponsored by: Beth Tetzlaff

Nine-year-old Rufus wants to be a scientist one day.  He is in the second grade and lives in Kparblee, Nimba County, with his mother and has several siblings who live in the capital city, Monrovia, with their grandmother.  Raising children from economically struggling households is a shared responsibility among extended family members.  Rufus is in second grade.  His chores include pounding the chaff off freshly harvested r rice in a large mortar, hauling firewood, washing clothes and dishes.  Suffice to say Rufus is a wonderful helper to his mother who does subsistence farming.
