January 2024: Sixty four old Martha is a widow caring for her extended family household.  Martha did not have any biological children and when this occurs, extended family often “gift” the barren woman with children whose family cannot adequately care for them.  This leaves her vulnerable for support as she ages because the children she raises are culturally expected to take care of their biological parents.  She has been doing subsistence farming to care for her family. No longer able to sustain the strength needed to farm, Martha requested for and was granted a farming supplies package to acquire additional tools to barter out to those whom she contracts to work on her farm.
