Marcus is continuing his education after a very difficult year marked by the loss of his father. Despite this profound change in his life, he remained enrolled in school and successfully completed 1st grade, moving forward into 2nd grade this year. His ability to stay in school during a time of grief reflects quiet resilience and determination. With continued support, Marcus is focused on healing, learning, and maintaining stability in his education as he moves ahead.

Marcus is an 8-year-old first grader with a bright mind and a hardworking spirit. He said that he hopes to be a “hospital worker” when he grows up. He lives with his single mother and three siblings, all of whom have faced tremendous hardship over the past year. Marcus’s father tragically passed away when he was struck by a car while walking to work. Since then, his mother has been struggling to provide for the family on her own. Despite these challenges, Marcus remains an incredibly serious and diligent student. According to his teachers, he is a smart and focused young boy who is determined to excel in his studies.
